Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Bwindi forest for the Uganda gorilla trekking safari

After an early breakfast, you will depart on your gorilla safari southwards to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The voyage will take you through rural and semi-urban Uganda, with stops at fruit and vegetable markets, artisan and drum producers, and a crossing to the southern hemispheres at Uganda’s Equator monument. Following the Equator experience, the trip will continue with a lunch stop in Mbarara before continuing to Bwindi with brief potty stops and photo sessions of scenery and other sites.

Alternatively, you can fly to Bwindi Forest or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in the morning. You will then be picked up from the airstrip and taken to your accommodation to relax before going gorilla trekking. You have the option of participating in an afternoon community service project.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Uganda

Gorilla trekking safari – This morning at 7 a.m., your driver guide will pick you up from the resort and transport you to the briefing location before your gorilla trek begins at 8 a.m. The Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will greet you and provide you seats till the time of the briefing as your driving guide registers you with the ranger on duty to be assigned a gorilla family.

Finally, the ranger guide will provide a quick overview of the park experience and how you should interact with nature and other visitors. You will then be assigned a gorilla family to trek with, and you will begin your journey into the forest. Depending on the location of your gorilla family, you may need to drive to the designated gorilla family’s trail head.

We recommend hiring a porter to carry your day pack because the gorillas may be placed a distance from the start of your trip; they may also assist you in pushing or pulling you down the steep, treacherous slopes in the jungle.

Day 3: Transfer to Entebbe

Today you return to Kampala by car. Enjoy lunch at the Equator and photo opportunities in both the northern and southern hemispheres. This will be the conclusion of your wonderful Uganda vacation.
