Overview
Mgahinga gorilla national park is home to the Virunga volcanoes, which are shared between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is the smallest of Uganda’s national parks, yet it is packed with exciting activities for any outdoor enthusiast. This gorilla trekking and golden monkey trekking safari will allow you to enjoy the magnificence of this park. You may prolong your stay if you want to hike any of the volcanoes, such as Sabyinyo, Gahinga, or Muhavura. Hiking to the peak of any of these Volcanoes takes a full day. You may also prolong your stay if you wish to take the Batwa walk in this park, which will show you how they lived and coexisted with wild animals.

Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
After breakfast, your driver guide will take you to Kisoro, Uganda, at the foot of the Virunga Volcanoes. Take in the twisting roads and breathtaking vistas of the volcanoes. Depending on the time you arrive, you will have some free time to prepare for the days of trekking and hiking ahead.
Alternatively, you may fly from Entebbe to the Kisoro airport. Please keep in mind that these are early flights owing to the weather in the Kisoro area
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla national park
Mgahinga gorilla national park was established largely to conserve endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys, among other animals. Today you will be taken to the park’s briefing point to learn how to behave and interact with the gorillas in the wild. The ranger guide will then accompany you to the park’s gorilla walk. After traveling a short distance, depending on the position of the gorillas, you will be able to see them and spend up to an hour with them, watching them interact with one another and having their feeding and siesta time.
Following your one-hour encounter with the gorillas, you will begin your descend back to the briefing point and, subsequently, your lodge. Even while you enjoy the lovely surroundings in his region, the experience of being in this jungle and encountering these giant beasts will stick with you for the rest of your life.
Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park
You will return to the park to hike with the golden monkeys. Similarly to the previous day, you will have a briefing from the ranger guide who will offer information on what to expect when hunting for the golden monkeys in the Virunga volcanoes. Following this briefing, you will begin your journey in quest of the golden monkeys.
Porters are available for those who are interested, and an enforcement officer will accompany you to assist in the event that you encounter hazardous wild buffaloes and elephants. Unlike gorillas, golden monkeys move quickly and you will be able to track them while they feed. They enjoy eating bamboo shoots, as well as fruits, plants, and even insects.
You are only permitted to spend one hour with the golden monkeys before returning to the starting point and continuing your journey to your resort or any other activity you have planned for the day.
Day 4: Departure via Kigali or Entebbe
